Your Travel Experience with Private Selection Hotels & Tours

Today you will visit the Caverne du Chauvet - Pont d'Arc World Heritage Site. It is a true-to-life replica of the Grotte ornée du Pont d'Arc, where more than a thousand wall paintings were found in 1994. These paintings are over 36,000 years old - the oldest known depictions to date. On the outward journey, we recommend the route via Saint-Paul-Trois-Châteaux, whose cathedral Notre Dame was built in the 12th century and is an example of Romanesque architecture in Provence, which was influenced by antiquity. On the return journey to Grignan, you will then cross the Drôme at Donzère with its Romanesque church and the Renaissance-style ‘Chevinesse’ tower, which, together with the town walls and castle, is a listed monument.
